The company started contemporary/mordern dance in 1997 after attended workshop of Claude Brumachon and Benjamin Larmach from France. After the creation of the "When Gods Go Crying "choreographed by the duo international choreographers and the tours. All the dance company that participated in the workshop started experimenting the techniques and Okoto Dance Company was abled to produce"The Dance Of The Dieties" which toured few states and few West African countries.
Past Performances
Okoto Dance Company has performed two piece after this,
OMI:- The suffers and agony the ancient people encountered before discovering of water. c 1999
ISESE:- This is a solo performed by the Artistic Director of the company on the traditional ways of appeasing the gods. c2001
KIRAKITA ( Survival):- This is the human struglling of life, to survive in the world and the different problems they encountered before becoming somebody in life.

The Company is presently working on another Contemporary dance titled OLOJUOROGBO.
This is a dance that showcased the characteristic of Sango the god of thunder and lightning,but in another way, yhis time in a african ccontemporary movements.
